Tips For The Course

Participate! - As we begin our work together I want to discuss an important aspect of learning - Participation. Participation is an important part of a collaborative learning environment as the discussions generate a great deal of learning through the sharing of experiences and exchange of ideas about the theoretical material and practical aspects of applying those concepts in the real world.

In some of the modules, you will need help. I encourage you to initiate discussions in the Study Groups and respond regularly and make sure your ideas are presented clearly and are substantive. Discussion in the “Study Group” area is an important part of the learning that takes place in this class. In essence, we learn from each other. Share ideas with your fellow learners. Ask them questions. Share your own experiences. Yes, online learning is iterative.

Discussion Study Group Questions -To maximize your learning, you are expected to participate actively in the Chapter Study Group Discussion.

Remember, the purpose of course discussions is to stimulate academic dialog and as such, I will expect you and your fellow learners to carry the responsibility for helping each other in times of need.

Timely postings are very important because they generate further understanding of the material being presented. Your assignments must be posted by the due date or they will be marked as late. Checking and posting the Study Group discussions regularly will help your classmates and possibly the other students can help you in your time of need.

I realize that many of you, due to your busy lives, use your weekends to complete assignments. However, timely postings are also critical.
