Critical Thinking

When preparing your responses to the discussion questions and Final Project or Paper you are expected to demonstrate the highest levels (i.e., levels 4,5, & 6) of Bloom's Taxonomy, which are:

  • Knowledge: Observe and recall information.
  • Comprehension: Grasp meaning and translate to new context
  • Application: Use information, methods, concepts, theories in new situations.
  • Analysis: See patterns and organization of parts and recognize hidden meanings.
  • Synthesis: Use old ideas to create new ones, generalize from given facts, relate knowledge from several areas, predict, draw conclusions.
  • Evaluation: Compare and discriminate between ideas, assess value of theories, make choices based on reasoned argument and verify value of evidence.

When writing your responses, remember I am looking for your ability to think critically.  Analyze, synthesize and evaluate what you have read into a clear and succinct summary of what the authors have said compared to your own experiences and end with a conclusion. Of course, I want you to use properly formatted in-text citations and references to support and illustrate your observations and conclusions, but use them sparingly.
